Luxury multi-day event that will include runway shows, vendor exhibition,and industry networking events with the sole purpose of raising awareness of the African Fashion/Entertainment professionals in New York and Tri -State area. More specifically, buyers and industry influencers will be previewed to African designers. Over 2,000+ audience members will also witness the excitement and be a part of the cause

New York, NY-June 2012- Bolivian designer Gustavo Garcia will present his collection at Africa Fashion Week New York, Friday, July 13th. AFWNY, produced by Adirée, will take place July 12th, 13th, and 14th at the Broad Street Ballroom in New York’s Financial District. Gustavo Garcia describes his style as joyful, fun and unselfconscious. Living in the Afro-Bolivian part of his country, Garcia uses chiffon, cotton jersey and stretch fabric offering women comfort and ease, yet showcasing a cultural fusion of contemporary fashions. The new designer has made a “buzz” fairly quickly in Bolivian fashion industry and now is ready to take his designs up to the next level—the global market. “I bring a new, fresh, joyful, fun and unselfconscious vibe to casual wear. My designs are commercial and wearable but not your run of the mill mainstream.” —Gustavo Garcia Garcia’s AFWNY 2012 debut is inspired by unwinding into a warm blue sky with colorful kites and hot air balloons at sight. AFWNY includes runway shows hosting 21+ designers from various countries in Africa and those of the African Diaspora, exhibitions, and industry networking events. Opening designers Francis Hendy, Korto Momolu, and designers like Mafi, Attolle Collection, Geraldo Fashions and others will showcase. About Gustavo Garcia:
