Tyra Banks premiers the 18th cycle of America's Next Top Model - with a twist:
For the first time the women will vie with participant from England (who will comprise of half the contestants). This year, we'll heip you keep track of all contestants who don't make it.Lending their expertise as guest judges this cycle are actress and singer Kelly Osbourne, reality star Kris Jenner, pop star Estelle, Marchesa fashion designer Georgina Chapman, television host Cat Deeley, actor and musician Nicolas Tse, former Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle, former Pussycat Doll Jessica Sutta, model Beverly Johnson, fashion designer Barney Cheng and fashion photographer Jez Smith.

.
**I am honored to have photographed the model AzMarie from Wisconsin**

2/29: Shortest model for this cycle is Britian's 5'7" Annaliese. She's gonna really have to stand out! This week,Gorgia's Seymone was the strongest model, with Britian's Jasmyia being sent home (her portrayal of John Lennon was not impressive to the judges)

3/7/2012 -The Makeovers - Described by one British model as the "freaky deaky". As usual, some are complaining and crying over cut hair. ...NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED HERE...! 3/14: Toaday began with a paper fight. Just simple, balled up paper balls that the British girls threw at the American girls while they were sleeping. Of course a small fight almost broke out between Catherine & Symone. Actually the British seemed more understanding. Candace was the last picture picked from last week. The project was "leadership" with kelly Cutrone. The girls were divided into two groups as the searched for "Very.com" products and props. The plans were to put together a photoshoot with male models. The Americans seemed to have a very good shoot session, while the British finally got it together-after a widly confused beggining. In the judging, Louise (Brit) kind of self- destructed and became rude ro the judges. She was kinda rude during the photo session, then just lost it on the judges comments. Sadly, she chose not to continue on... however, the judges loved her!) AZMarie was judged to have the best photo Actually, all girls were able to continue on due the departure of Louise (who didn't even realize that the photo critique would be followed by high praise).

3/22: - This episode saw them in infomercials & a focus group. Annaliese won this event hands down. They then had a photoshoot on a dam, utilizing 60's-styled cars and British-styled hats. Overall it was a good shoot. AzMarie had surprisingly-kind words for Kyle who was packing her bags in preparation for flying home the next day-a few others chimed in. Ms, Jay had to gently explain at an earlier point, that the problems she has are just the nature of the business. Kyle has done well on both of todays events-so we'll just see what happens at judging.

AzMarie, recieved best picture again (Kyle was third!)

Symone had the worst picture but Candace was sent home this week-and made the cardinal sin of tealling Tyra about someone else (kyle). As I typed, I just shook my head. Till next week...

4/11-( from 4/4) The models are invited to the Toronto Fashion Week by Jay Manuel for casting calls & to walk in shows;Jay is a designer (who knew?) 18yr old Eboni & Sophie booked the most runway shows. The four girls who didn't were very dissapointed to have been left out of such a big event. this weeks challenge was to model in leavrs and syrup. It was a nice shoot by all. Former supermodel Beverly Johnson was the guest-judge this week.At judging, Eboni had the best photo (Symone came 4th-with no casting calls), Ashley was judged to have the worst by her non-booking of shows, and her lack of cofidence.Americans:5 / British:4

4/11-this show began with a bear (a stuffed animal and its loss of an ear). The girls this week had to record their music tracks; then had to learn the art of the "booty tooch". AzMarie decided not to participate, claiming on caption that she is a grown-ass woman. She didn't have time for that (could be a fatal move). The models went to the Playhouse nightclub to make their videos for their music. The American models had some problems trying to get it together While the British models had the "tooch" down pat. Kyle felt like she was the worst, and had to be talked into "bringing it" by AzMarie. At judging, Tyra spoke to AzMarie about her walking out of the class & AzMarie did apologize. Personaly, the British rocked the video portion! The British were also singled out for their video. Kyle & AzMarie were judged to perform the worst. AzMarie was sent home. It wasn't said, but the "tooch" was an issue, and her growing cocky-ness. Americans-4 / British-4

4/18-Because Alisha was voted winner of Last week's challenge, there was a big box full of gifts waiting for the British girls when they got home. The girls were talking about wanting Kyle to be eliminated, This weeks challenge was the PSA. Each team worked with a young group of four girls. The theme was "being "beautiful" and what these young ladies thought. Alisha was very encouraging. Both teams did well, but the Btitish had a lot of fun withthe PSA. Nigel led this, and he thought the British did the best. The prize was a televised message from their loved ones.
For the photoshoot the girls had to be art installations at a beautiful Bel-Aire mansion. British singer and Grammy award winner Estelle was the surprise guest. Once again, the conversation came around to Kyle. As she was the only one who had to do her shoot with 'butt-pads'.
At judging, The tooch was the main subject this week again. Judges opinion was about 50:50 With both teams having good models, and both having dissipointing ones. Sophie was voted to have the best photo, followed by Symone. Kyle was voted to have the worst, and sent home. till next week.

4/25-The British lead 4-3 - with the heavier challenges approaching. Could they win it all? Alisha was a bit upset about her drop last week. The first challenge was a casting & first impressions at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The winner would open a runway show for the winning designer, at the Paris Fashion Week. The judge for this event was Kelly Cutrone. Kelly was not a fan of the model's walk. She critiqued the models before the next set. Alisha was first model chosen to open (for Andre Neen). Sophie was also given two shows to open (Siki Im & Giulietta). Some girls were not chosen to open, and were still walking in the shows. The Designer winner for this contest (& $40,000) was Andre Neen which made Alisha the winner.
Next, the model photographed in "Hello Kitty" couture with 16yr old Ann He, the photographer. Symone's attitude is a source of concern. Next come the judges...
Guest judge was Georgina Chapman. Once again, the British garnered most of the good comments-with Alisha leading the way. This could pose a problem, and threat to the Americans.
HANDS DOWN, Alisha is the winner for the week-2 of last 3 weeks. (Could our winner be emerging?) What went unnoticed, was the applause given by the British. Sophie was second. Ebony & Symone were chastened for their lack of interest. Symone was voted the worst. British-4 / Americans-2

5/2- Today the girls were visited by Nigel. He briefly talks with them before he breaks the surprise: They are going to the Asian island of Macau. After touring the island, the models get to see their room at the MGM Macau. They were amazed. Alisha talks alot about her impoverished childhood then rants at Sophie because her clothes were moved.
Their first assignment is a phsycic reading. Overseen by Mr. Jay. Their assignment was to change their aurors-using mostly Makeup and some fabric. The girls did good, but Laura won the challenge. As the only two Americans(w/Eboni), they won a spa treatment.
The next day, the models had to shoot using the silk worms of Asia as an accessory. The photographer this week was Paul Tsang, the designer was Barney Cheng. The models anticipated a brutal judges panel.
Laura was first up-and they loved her photo. The judges did like Ebony, but told her she had no neck in her photos. Sophie (British) also received a harsh critisism. Alisha was not given the praise she is used to, but she did a bit better than she thought (they liked her body, but she didn't do the dress justice)
Laura was voted the best shoot. Annaliese the next. Sadly, Kathleen was voted to be the worst, and was sent home. Alisha was was also put in the last two model group She was so upset to be almost voted off that she way crying at the end.
Brits-3 / Americans-2

5/9-There was a special gift for Laura when she got back to the house. Alisha was a bit worried about being in the bottom two. She felt that should have been Sophie. The girl challenge was on the island of Hong Kong-with action superstar actor,Nicholas Tse. Ms Jay supervised the production. Laura was paired with Nicholas. Ebony was first with the real-take. As I'm watching, the girls are were doing ok. The winner of the challenge was Laura. Nicholas really liked how she worked her hair. I was kind of nonplussed. The girls were upset that Laura won. They felt that others did better; So did I.
The models were up early the next day. Hair & makeup were done in the residence. Mrs. Jay and Nigel were at the Macau Tower for the next shoot. The Macau Tower was the tallest bunji-jumping site in Macau. Wind, and rain were part of this shoot. Sophie went first, but while she did well, she couldn,t do the shoot letting go. Laura did very well. Ebony did well also. Nigel was really impressed with Alisha's drive, but Alisha did not know it. At the judges panel, Annaliese was first, and judges Raved. Alisha was next, but judges thought she did well enough.
Laura had the best photo. BUT While Alisha had the last photo, she decided that it was time to quit the show. She left, and sadly Ebony was voted to have the worst photo, and in a stunning turn of events, had to leave with her.

5/16-The girls were still shook up from last weeks judging. This week the model's had go see challenges-with each girl earning $1000 Hong Kong dollars for each show booked( up to four). Kelly Cutrone supervised. The girls wow-ed them with personality, but their were a few questions about their walks. Sophie booked four go-see jobs. Annaliese booked three, and Laura two. Sophie won the challenge. She also won, literaly, a boatload full of designer clothes.
The next shoot challenge was to shoot for the "Dream Come True" fragrance line with Jez Smith being the photographer and a guest judge. Sophie did well on her shoot. Annaliese had a few problems, and Laura lost them a little. At judging, Laura was the first up. While her shot was well, it did not meet demagraphics. The same with Annaliese. Sophie had the same problem. Judging is going to be tough this week.
Best photograph went to Sophie, the other spot in the Forever 21 fashion show went to Laura Even though the judges were terrified about her runway walk. Annaliese was sent home. Here is where I break with the show, because I felt that Annaliese was a better model than Laura, and it was more a British/American Final that was wanted. Well, off to next week's fashion show...

Fashion city rankings:

The Global Language Monitor has brought out its list of the world's top 25 fashion cities:(as they wrote it)

New York (1) - 5th year in a row and probably supported by the ease of internet access

Rome (2) - Expected but thought that Milan would take this spot!

Paris (3) - In terms of our fashionistas probably is NO. 1 but not in the survey!

Milan (5) - Hmmm it reigns over London....

London (4) - Still within the Big 5 but slowly dropping.....not surprisingly if you saw the last collections at fashion week.......

Los Angeles (6) - Not suprising considering it hosts Chanel's Cruise collection launches...

Sydney (12) - Fashionable??????? Not convinced. Fab location and social life but fashion?

Las Vegas (9) - Elvis regalia reigns supreme and 60 sec marriages.......go figure....

Berlin (11) -This should have been higher up........such a cool city!

Tokyo (6) - Capital of Asian luxury brands.......

Hong Kong (8) - Poor step cousin to Tokyo!

Dubai (24) - Hype, more hype and even more hype.......advertising pays!

Shanghai (14) - This should be higher up........although the polluted air could be keeping fashionstas at bay........

Singapore (10) - Hmmmm again I think its about the advertising and hype....

Madrid (New) - Hmmmm not convinced of this at all thought that Rio would hit it here

Moscow (16) - New luxury market capital.........would have thought that it would have gone higher?

Santiago (19) - Is this for real? Although with the amount of investment in this part of the world it does make for a serious contender....

Melbourne (15) - Geez another Australian city........

Stockholm (New) - In fashion? Most boring fashion ever........fashionable furniture and clever interior concepts yes but fashion?

Buenos Aires (22) - Hmmm not convinced that it has such a strong fashion presence however with new design hotels like the Faena Hotel and Universe it just might be deserving of this position.....(its awesome hotel by the way and I highly recommend it!)

Johannesburg (23) - Joburg improves two spots......a climber which bodes well for SA!!!

Mumbai (18) - Great entry and with the introduction of more luxury brands into the Indian market this should head up on the the list in the future......

Cape Town (New) -Hot new entry! Love this and its a firm prediction that this will push out JHB in the future....

New Delhi (New) - The Indian capital makes a fashionable entrance and trust me will be moving on up in this list in years to come

Barcelona (18) - huge drop for this city that will surely be taken over by Rio and Sao Paolo in years to come.......
Having 2 cities from South Africa is certainly a great endorsement!

RIP Whitney. You WILL be missed. Your voice may be silenced, but your song is loud and clear!

I'M BACK!!

A year ago I found out that I was suffering from kidney disease, among a few other things. I am sorry I couldn't keep up with you on the fashion trail, but I am happy to be bringing it back to you. From New York fashion Week to London Fashion Week. I have plenty of pictures and information for you.
I'm gonna try to keep you busy. I'm going to be working the Miami scene initially, but we might do NY too. There's Carribean Fashion Week in Jamaica, Spain Fashion Week, and last year we got some info on Germany's Fashion Week-among others. It may take a while, but I promise to keep you browsing.
